Chicago Parents and Taxpayers Demand Accountability: Bring the Chicago Teachers Union Under Federal Trusteeship

About This Petition
Petition Statement
Chicago Flips Red is launching a petition calling for immediate accountability and oversight of the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU).
For years, Chicago community members, parents, and taxpayers have watched CTU leadership expand its political influence far beyond its original purpose. Instead of focusing on teacher pay, benefits, and working conditions, CTU leadership has increasingly used its power to shape broad political agendas that directly impact city policy and school operations.
Meanwhile, families across Chicago continue to face serious concerns about student outcomes, school safety, and the overall direction of our education system.
Chicago's children deserve better.
That is why Chicago Flips Red is calling for a federal review of the Chicago Teachers Union.
Our Demands
1. Federal Investigation and Trusteeship
We call on the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education to investigate the leadership, finances, and political activities of the Chicago Teachers Union.
If corruption or abuse of power is identified, we support placing the union under federal trusteeship to remove corrupt leadership and restore transparency and accountability.
2. Limit the Scope of the Union
The role of the Chicago Teachers Union should be limited to its core responsibilities:
-
Negotiating teacher wages
-
Protecting benefits
-
Ensuring fair working conditions
Union leadership should not dominate broader city policy or override the voices of parents and communities.
3. Restore Parental Voice
Parents deserve a real voice in the education of their children. Chicago's education system must prioritize students, families, and academic success.
4. Transparency and Accountability
Taxpayers and families deserve to know how decisions affecting our schools are being made—and who is influencing those decisions.
Call to Action
Chicago Flips Red is calling for a joint press conference with community members, parents, and elected officials to present a plan for restoring accountability and ensuring the Chicago Teachers Union serves the interests of students and educators—not political agendas.
If you believe Chicago's schools should prioritize education, transparency, and parental rights, sign this petition.
Chicago's children deserve leadership that puts them first.
